A Little Bit About Me and My Photography Journey

Crystal Li is a photographer and writer based in New York, working across sports, entertainment, and culture. Crystal was born in Los Angeles and spent half of her life in Beijing and half in New York, where she attended NYU Stern to study Business Marketing. Her work focuses on capturing the emotion and energy of live events — from intimate music shows to arena tours, to tennis tournaments and Formula 1 races.

Blending an editorial eye with creative precision, Crystal has produced both photographic and written coverage for major cultural moments, with a particular passion for storytelling at the intersection of music, sport, and storytelling. She is the founder of The Inchident Report, an independent publication exploring Formula 1 strategy, sports psychology, and culture, and the founder of Ampersnd Media, a music publication focusing on capturing moments of connection at live music events.

Crystal’s work has been recognized for its immediacy and atmosphere, balancing artistry with efficiency. Whether shooting on assignment or developing long-form features, she thrives in high-pressure environments and delivers imagery that connects people to the moment.
